Smart VLE Release notes - 18th June 2020

Our developers have been working very hard and we have some exciting new developments that have been released on SmartVLE. Please familiarise yourself with these updates.

Matrix Questions

There is a new question type available for use for matrix type questions.

When creating a new question, you will see a new icon called “Matrix”, select this to create a matrix type question.

The matrix question is built up by introducing the question/ topic in the question text area. You then build the specific statements/ questions that you want rated by the participant by completing the matrix rows, more rows can be added by clicking the add new row button up to a maximum of 20.

You must also select the matrix scale that you want to be displayed to the candidate as part of the question. The options are:

  • 1-5
  • 1-7
  • 1-10

  • Strongly Disagree – Strongly Agree
  • Dissatisfied – Highly Satisfied

Once you have entered all the information necessary, select one of the save options to save your matrix question.

Matrix questions must be added into an unmarked assessment.

Unmarked Assessments default to forcing the participant to answer every question, you can uncheck this box if wanted when creating the assessment.

When answering the question, the participant will have the option to add a comment under ony of the matrix row responses.

If the participant selects a negative response, the comment box will become mandatory.

On completion of the assessment, the participant will be notified that their responses have been sent to the assigning author for review.

Completed assessments will show in assigned assessments with n/a in the results column, this is also how the result will appear in the completed assessments report.

When the author views the response and comments will be visible to the author.

Next Steps

Our next sprint of development will be focused around additional steps to ensure participant accounts and SA Learner accounts merge correctly.

Looking further into the future, we will create a new report to allow you to report on the matrix questions.
