Smart VLE Release Notes 22/01/2019

Smart VLE - Client

Update January 2019

Our developers are always working hard to improve your experience of Smart VLE.

These are the latest updates to the site that are due to be released.

Import Courses from Smart Assessor

You can now import the structure of a course from Smart Assessor into your courses in Smart VLE.

Click on the “import course” button whilst in the courses tab in Smart VLE.

Then select a course source.

You can choose to import a course that already exists in your Smart Assessor site or import a course from Master Quals and apply the filter.

If you need to narrow your search, you can enter the details into the field for the awarding body, title or code. Click on the course you want to import and then apply the filter again.

Once you have narrowed your search down, click on the import course button for your selected course and confirm your selection when prompted.

The course will be imported into Smart VLE with the units and criteria already populated.

When you create an assessment, you must now choose whether or not you want to display the result in the Smart Assessor evidence library. If you do want the result of the assessment to be exported to Smart Assessor, you must choose the course that you want it to be attached to in the SA Courses box that appears when you check that box.

Add Images to Multiple Choice Questions

You can now add images in the response area of multiple choice question types.

Type your question in the question box, then select the image tab on the response box. Browse your computer for the desired image and click open to insert it into the response box.

Once you have added all the responses that you need, mark the correct response and choose one of the save options.

Unmarked assessment type

There is a new assessment type called “unmarked assessment”.

You can include any type of question for this type of assessment but none of the participant’s responses will be marked. This type of assessment can be used for gathering information.

When creating this type of assessment there is an option to make all questions mandatory.

When completing this type of assessment, the participant will get a message to thank them for taking the assessment with no result.

As an author in the assigned assessments screen, you will see that the assessment has been completed with “N/A” in the result field. You can then view the answers in the usual manner, however the marking scheme will not appear, you will only be able to view the participant’s responses.

Unit header

When creating single page static assessments of any type, the unit header will appear above each question when the participant is completing the assessment.

Decimal Numbers in Marking Questions

When setting up a question, you can now allocate a decimal number as the mark allowed for the question

Ordering of unit, criteria and questions in an assessment.

When creating a static assessment, you can now specify the order in which the units, criteria and questions will appear in the assessment by using the arrows on the right-hand side of the screen.

Assigned Assessment/ Resources: search by email.

There is an additional field added to the “Assigned Assessment” and “Assigned Resources” screen to allow you to filter by the participant’s email.

Kind Regards,

The Smart Apprentices Team
